Indian Ginger Chicken is one of my favorite mother’s recipe which I would like to share with you. You must have tried of many versions of Ginger Chicken but mostly might be Chinese or Indo-chinese. This is purely Indian and made with simple ingredients like chilly powder vinegar and of course ginger. Since only few masalas are used its very healthy and good for your tummy.
Chicken is one of the most commonly used ingredient in my kitchen. You can make varieties of chicken recipes by adding simple ingredients. I love the rich and bold flavor of Ginger which is the key ingredient of my Indian Ginger Chicken Recipe that adds a finger licking taste and aroma to the entire dish.
We are very familiar with the medicinal properties of ginger. As ginger has been used as an effective digestive aid, the use of ginger in this chicken dish makes the dish more digestible.
This is a dry chicken recipe which goes well with naan, chapatis and fried rice and I assure you that this is good finger licking dinner recipe. Let see how we make this Indian Ginger Chicken Recipe.
Ingredients
- Boneless Chicken(500gm): I prefer boneless chicken cut into small pieces but bone in chicken can be used.
- Ginger Paste(2 tbsp):The key ingredient.
- Vinegar: Used for marination.
- Spice Powders: Only kashmiri chili and turmeric powder used.
- Onion: 2 big chopped finely.
- Green chilli: Chopped roundly and sauted in oil for garnishing.
- Salt to taste.
How to make Indian Ginger Chicken?
Lets see the step by step procedure of Indian Ginger Chicken
Step 1:Marinate the chicken with vinegar ,ginger paste ,salt and tumeric powder for minimum 1 hour.
Step 2: After marination you will see water comes out from it. Next heat the pan and boil the chicken till the water is dried up and the chicken is cooked.
Step 3: Take a pan and heat 2 tbsp of oil. Next add roughly chopped onions to it. Saute it till it becomes light pink color. After that add kashmiri chilli powder ,and tumeric and saute till its raw taste is gone.
Step 4:Then add the chicken and saute it in low flame for around 30 to 45 mins till it becomes dry. Add more oil if needed.
Step 5:Once the chicken becomes brown and dry switch off the flame.
Step 6: Heat 1tbsp of oil in a kadai on medium heat. Add chopped green chillies and fry them approximately for 2 to 3 minutes.
Step 7: Transfer the chicken in a serving bowl and garnish it with the fried green chillies.
Your Indian ginger chicken is ready. Serve hot with Fried rice naan or chapatis.

Ingredients

- 2 tbsp Ginger Paste
- 1 tbsp Vinegar
- 2 tbsp Kashmiri Chilli Powder
- 1 tbsp turmeric powder
- 2 Onion(chopped finely)
- 7 Green chilli(Chopped roundly)
- Oil
- Salt to taste

Notes
- Kashmiri Chili Powder can be substituted with normal chili powder. But I prefer kashmiri chili due to its rich and vibrant color.
- If boneless chicken not available bone-in chicken can be used.
